UJEP Opens New Study Programmes in Cultural and Creative Industries
The Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem (UJEP) is starting the new year with the launch of innovative Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes focusing on the intersection of culture, creativity, and management. These programmes have been developed to address the rapidly growing demand for skilled professionals in the cultural and creative industries (CCI), both within the Ústí nad Labem region and beyond. The programmes were officially inaugurated on 8 January 2025 at the House of Arts Ústí nad Labem (DUÚL).
The first of these new programmes is the Bachelor of Professional Studies in Production for the Cultural and Creative Industries, housed within UJEP’s Faculty of Art and Design (FUD). This three-year bachelor’s programme is designed to equip students with both a solid theoretical foundation and substantial hands-on experience. Graduates will be well-positioned for careers in private creative firms specializing in product and graphic design, as well as in cultural institutions, heritage sites, art museums, municipal cultural and tourism offices, festivals, mass media, and advertising agencies.
“During their studies, students will learn how to initiate their own projects, lead creative teams, and manage productions ranging from festivals to exhibitions. They will enter an environment that fosters creative ideas and brings fresh energy to the world of design and art,” explains the programme’s guarantor, MgA. Adéla Machová, Ph.D., assistant professor at FUD UJEP.
The second programme is the Master’s Degree in Management of Cultural and Creative Industries, offered by the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences (FSE) at UJEP. This part-time programme, launching in the academic year 2025/2026, provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the management and development of cultural projects and creative institutions.
“Set the direction. Leave a mark!” This motto captures the spirit of the new Master’s programme in Cultural and Creative Industries Management. Jaroslav Koutský, the programme guarantor and current Rector of UJEP, explains: “If you want to set the direction and leave a mark, you need to know how to achieve your goals and cultivate the right environment to make it happen. This is what students will learn with us. We look forward to welcoming anyone who aspires to make an impact in this field. Applicants with a business degree are welcome, as are those with artistic backgrounds. We are prepared to embrace the widest possible diversity among our students.”
