Academic Senate

The Academic Senate of J. E. Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem is a self-regulating representative academic organ established with a foundation of the university in 1991. The senate was established in accordance with Czech legislation, which put a strong impetus for decentralization of the management of universities after the Velvet revolution in 1989. Currently, the Academic Senate has 40 members, three academic representatives and two students from each of the eight faculties. On its monthly meetings, the senate discusses and approves essential organizational and economic issues relating to the university life. The senate meetings are held in Czech, but foreign members may ask in advance for a summary of documents in English for the forthcoming meeting.
